Carolyn Harper
I began painting in 2007, taking my inspiration from my mother in law, artist, Lucille Harper Baker. Married to my husband of 35 years, Wayne, we live at Lake Kiowa. A gated lake community in North Texas. Wayne has two sons, Craig and Ross. Ross has one son, Mark Henry.
In the winter of 2007, I took my first watercolor lesson from Hawaiian artist, Lisa Bunge. We were sitting on the beach at the Mauna Lani Resort on the big island of Hawaii. I came back to Texas and enrolled at a Community College in Dallas, where I took watercolor and drawing classes. After that, I took classes from visiting artists at the Artist Showplace in Richardson.
Dividing our time between the Big Island and Texas, I have met lots of great people thru painting. In 2015, I had my first Gallery opening at Barela Gallery in Hawaii, with two fellow artists, Lynn Chapman and Peter Jefferson.
This year, I am pleased to have had my "Hollyhocks" painting accepted into Southwest Watercolor and Texas Watercolor Society's shows. Earning signature membership into each organization. Looking forward to more painting experiences in 2020.
